This is an example of a typical post page, with the main types of ads we run here at Raptive. You can view this page on desktop or on a mobile device, to see the different types of ads that run on each device type.
Header Ad
At the top of the page, you can see a header ad. Sometimes also called a “leaderboard ad,” the header ad is a long rectangular ad that appears at the top of a website on desktop or tablet.

Sidebar Ad
A sidebar ad runs in the sidebar of the site. If you’re viewing this page on desktop, you can see an example of a normal sidebar ad over there on the right side below the ‘Meet AdThrive’ widget.
AdThrive sidebar ads are typically open to several different ad sizes to ensure the most competition for each spot in your sidebar. A sidebar that is at least 300 pixels wide keeps your site open to the highest-paying ad sizes!

Sticky Sidebar Ad
A sticky sidebar ad is an ad at the bottom of the sidebar on desktop that “sticks” to the screen and scrolls along with the reader as they move down the page. Because this ad is seen so well by readers, it earns exceptionally well.
If you’re viewing this page on desktop, you can see an example of a sticky sidebar at the bottom of the sidebar as you keep scrolling through this post.
The sooner a sticky sidebar ad comes into view and begins scrolling with a reader, and the longer it’s able to scroll, the better it earns — so a short sidebar with fewer widgets helps this ad type earn more.

Content Ads
A content ad is an ad that runs inside the content of your pages on desktop or mobile, usually between paragraphs of text. You’ll see these ads sprinkled within the content on this page, too.
Content ads are especially valuable on mobile, since mobile devices don’t have room for a sidebar with sidebar ads. AdThrive technology detects a reader’s screen height and intelligently spaces out these ads to maximize your ad earnings AND keep sites reader-friendly!

Recipe Ad
If you publish recipes on your site, a recipe ad is an ad that shows up inside the recipe card. Readers tend to spend a lot of time viewing a recipe’s ingredients and instructions, so an ad placed inside the recipe box tends to earn very well.

You can see a live example of a recipe ad inside the recipe box below:

Sticky Footer Ad
A sticky footer ad loads at the bottom of the browser and “sticks” there as the reader navigates the website. You can see an example of this ad at the bottom of this page.
The sticky footer ad is one of the most valuable ad units you can run on your site and always has an ‘X’ at the top right so readers can close it if they want.

Video Player Examples
Do you publish original video content on your site? We’d love to help you monetize those videos with our AdThrive video player options.
If you’re viewing this post on desktop, you encountered our collapsible video player, that begins playing inside the post content and moves to the sidebar as you keep scrolling. This video player silently autoplays a playlist of videos inside every post on desktop with ads interspersed between videos. To hear the audio, simply mouse over the video to turn on sound
Collapsible Video Player Example
Some content management systems aren’t compatible with the Collapsible video player, so we also have an alternative stationary sidebar player that stays in one place in the sidebar and silently autoplays on all pages. You can see an example of this video player in the sidebar here.
If you’re viewing this post on mobile, the mobile video player is a stationary video player that loads in the middle of your post and silently autoplays your video content with ads interspersed throughout. We can always customize the location depending upon your site’s mobile theme.
Below, you’ll find an example of an embedded click-to-play video. These function a lot like YouTube’s embedded video players — you upload a video and get an embed code to place anywhere you’d like on your site — but AdThrive video players earn significantly more. The video player can play ads before, during, and after your video content.
Expandable Sticky Footer Ad
Found on: Mobile only
The expandable sticky footer is an “upgrade” to the normal sticky footer ad that we’re offering on mobile. This new, high-paying version expands — sometimes automatically at first, and sometimes upon user-interaction — and then shrinks back to normal sticky footer ad size.
An expandable sticky footer ad only serves when it can pay you more than a regular sticky footer ad.

Interscroller & Miniscroller Ad
Found on: Mobile only
Interscrollers( Full Interscroller )are a high-paying mobile option that scroll to reveal new content as the reader scrolls down the page. Miniscrollers( Default Interscroller ) are similar but do not take up the entire page.

Native Ad
Found on: Desktop, tablet, and mobile
Native ads complement your content and site design. Typical display ads aim to grab the reader’s attention and interest, while this new display type intends to function seamlessly with your content, whether that’s inside your post content on desktop or mobile, or in one of your sidebar ad slots.
In accordance with Federal Trade Commision (FTC) regulations, Native ads are always clearly marked as paid content, with wording saying the ad content is “sponsored by” a particular advertiser.
Here’s an example of a Native ad on mobile:

Outstream Ad
Found on: Desktop, tablet, and mobile
Outstream is a unique type of ad we offer for desktop and mobile. It looks like a typical display ad inside your content and automatically plays through a single animation. Readers can interact with the Outstream ad to turn on sound, but it’s always silent by default.
An Outstream ad only serves when it will earn you more than a regular display ad and when a reader is on a fast connection, and it waits to load until the content on your page has finished loading.
Here’s an example of an Outstream ad on mobile:

Animated Footer Ad
Found on: Mobile only
The Animated Footer ad captures readers’ attention by transforming relevant images on the page into an animated ad experience. Once ended, the takeover collapses into an In-Image unit to allow users to re-engage with content and drive click-through.

Interstitial Ad
Found on: Desktop, tablet, and mobile
Interstitial ads are full-page ads that sometimes serve when readers navigate to a second page on a site. Once the reader closes the ad, they will continue to the destination page.

Mural Ad
Found on: Desktop, tablet, and mobile
Mural ads are high-paying content ads that are much larger than the traditional content ad slot. The larger size attracts premium advertisers paying very high-CPM’s.
